Steven Altman

Steven is a practicum/intern counsellor at the Community Counselling Centre and a master’s student in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University graduating in December of 2025. His work is rooted in a collaborative approach in which individuals feel supported and empowered to create meaningful change. He has experience working with teens, adults, and performance-driven individuals facing challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and identity concerns.

Steven takes an integrative approach drawing upon evidence-based therapies such as person-centered therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic theory, and parts work.

He has prior experience supporting culturally diverse youth, families, and individuals with disabilities across Edmonton, Enoch, and Paul Band. Steven holds certifications in ACT, Sylvotherapy, and Nutrition and Mental Health. He is currently a student member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, the Canadian Sport Psychology Association, and the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science, Steven is passionate about creating a safe space for reflection, growth, and actionable change.
