Cynthia Lalonde

My name is Cynthia Lalonde (she/they) and I am a practicum student working towards the completion of my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. My goal is to support those navigating challenging emotions and life circumstances in building resiliency, safety, and self-compassion through their unique strengths.

I am open to working with clients from all ages and cultural backgrounds, but I am particularly passionate about working with youth and young adults (ages 16-29) navigating complex trauma, depression, anxiety, identity, family, and relationships. As a queer woman, I promise to provide a safe space for all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. I have also spent much of my professional life working with Métis and Indigenous families, both in the Northwest Territories and in Alberta. My clients can trust me to offer care that is post-colonial, justice-oriented, and diversity-affirming.

It is my belief that feeling seen, heard, and valued in a space free of judgement is a primary therapeutic intervention. I practice therapy as my authentic self, guided by honesty, empathy, and respect. My therapeutic approach is person-centered, trauma-informed, and holistic, drawing primarily from humanistic/existential, psychodynamic, relational, and emotionally-focused interventions. I am passionate about understanding my clients as complex individuals and centering their experiences and expertise as we navigate the healing process together.
